Lawful under the CBA or not, its patently unfair that Nashville gets to do this after the trade deadline.  Shame on the commissioner for giving this the nod.

This may help the Preds short term, but then he may just leave next year instead. Everyone is getting screwed but, Radulov and that is what is unfair.  Bettman had no choice based on the Yashin precedent, that many people applauded at the time.

Lawful under the CBA

Perhaps in letter but not in spirit.  What a farce.  The Canucks could have signed Nolan, suspended him and stashed him in Europe where he could circumvent the cap, the roster limit, the waiver system, and avoid the rigours of the league.  Oh wait, that’s considered unfair, and is specifically addressed by a rule.  Hmm.

And where’s the d-bag who’s going to call this an “active” contract.  Yeah, that’s what we call a guy who is not meeting his obligations, or getting paid - “active”.  The reason it is legal is because no one considered all possible absurdities when doing up the CBA.  A contract which has been inactive for three years should obviously be null, and I bet that most agents would be surprised to hear otherwise.

But this isn’t about Nashville, it is about the league’s hegemony - we can’t let great players play elsewhere.

But I honestly don’t think that this will help them.  I just remember the “KHL big hits” video that Paul posted awhile back.
