Racing Heartbeat Again For Numminen

Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff breached playoff protocol and revealed the reason defenseman Teppo Numminen exited Game Three after skating only 30 seconds in the second period. Ruff was compelled to inform reporters because Numminen wasn't hurt. The situation was more serious than that. "He had a racing heartbeat. I'm not going to hide that," Ruff said after Thursday morning's optional practice in the Wachovia Center. "It wasn't anything physical [in terms of an injury]. It's something that he's had before and dealt with it." The Sabres are optimistic Numminen will return for Game Four tonight.
