Word from Lightning PR just now is that goaltender Mike Smith will miss approximately two weeks with what is being called a “minor knee injury”.
Smith left today’s morning skate after a collision with forward Simon Gagne.
Goaltender Cedrick Desjardins, whose recall this morning sparked the return of some speculation regarding the team’s situation in goal that had been effectively stifled by solid play from Smith of late, is dressed as Dan Ellis’ backup tonight and is now far more likely to get his first taste of NHL action with Smith on the shelf.
