Put the NHL Lottery on TV

The NHL is back. Time to build momentum. Time to win back the hearts of the fans. No better place to start than this Thursday's Draft Lottery. The NBA generates great excitement with the televising of their draft lottery. The actual lottery is done behind closed doors but they cleverly "reveal" who got the top pick in a countdown format all the way to Number One, with NBA Deputy Commissioner Russ Granik acting as Alex Trebek for the proceedings. The NHL has an opportunity to generate some excitement of its own by doing the very same thing. Perhaps no one will care in the good 'ol U.S. of A where NFL training camps and baseball pennant races are about to push the NHL's return even further into the abyss, but in Canada is would provide some much needed positive attention for the league. Can't wait to tune in Thursday to see it! Um, what? You say the NHL is refusing to televise it? What do you mean the NHL is refusing to televise it? You mean Gary Bettman is just going to announce it at another carefully worded press conference? That's the way the NHL is trying to win fans back?continued...
