The final option might not sound like a winning entry in the “grand romantic gestures” hall of fame, but with a little help from influential places, you can pull off something special. That’s exactly what Nashville Predators fan Conor Payne achieved, thanks to winger Viktor Arvidsson.
A gamble that paid off
Payne and girlfriend Morgan Landsberg are long-time Predators fans, and Landsberg counts Arvidsson as her favorite player. It was therefore natural that the Swede would be Payne’s top choice to help him in his very public proposal, but it was still something of a gamble to risk all with so many onlookers. Fortunately, the plan paid off and Morgan said “yes.” Perhaps Payne should head over to casino-websites.co.uk/new-casino-sites/ and lay down some cash on the slots or the roulette wheel while lady luck is smiling on him!
Putting the fans first
The love-struck fan approached the team he has been following for years, and they were happy to help him pull off his daring plan in the name of love. As the team took to the ice in advance of their match up with the Anaheim Ducks on December 03, Arvidsson stopped in front of the young couple, removed a glove and revealed an engagement ring on his right little finger, which he handed to an astonished Miss Landsberg.
Her boyfriend was quick to ask the all important question, just so that she understood where the proposal was coming from, and players and fans united in cheers and congratulations when she accepted. The whole thing was captured on camera, and the Predators were quick to share it on their Twitter feed. From there, it rapidly went viral, with thousands of retweets and congratulations being sent from all over the world.
A perfect day all round
To put the icing on the cake, the Predators also managed to bounce back from the previous week’s loss to Vancouver with a 3-2 win against their arch-rivals. The smiles and laughter soon gave way to serious competition in what was always going to be a high-stakes grudge match.
In fact, it is fair to say that while both teams were keen to share the love with the soon to be newlyweds, the action on the ice displayed raw emotion of the completely opposite kind. Hate might be a strong word, but these teams really do not like each other, and there was one pile up after another in a highly intense game.
Trailing 2-1 in the third period, Calle Jarnkrok tied things up, and the game always looked like going to a shoot out. Kyle Turris and Kevin Fiala made no mistake, and all the Predators fans went home happy, two of them especially so.
