Pronger Not Worn Down- Credits The Rules

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail,
“It's actually the best I felt at this time of year at any point in my career,” said Pronger. How could that be? Pronger has had a longer year than most, what with the Olympics and all. “It's the rules,” he answered. “You guys think we're getting hit a lot. Apparently, you haven't noticed there's no hooking or holding or 250-pound guys draped on your back, lugging him around, battles in front of the net. That's what wears you out over the course of the game. It's not necessarily the skating and the hitting, you get hit, the guy's not allowed to pin you and stick you and do all the rest of the stuff that was allowed before. That's what takes a lot of energy.”
