If you want an idea of why there are some basic problems with the NHL allowing its players to compete in the Olympics, consider this quote from former Flyer Janne Niinimaa who was recently traded from the Islanders, to the Stars: "The Olympics were definitely my big goal for this year and obviously, it was a huge disappointment," he said. "I was frustrated because I wasn't playing to my strengths. Team Finland would probably categorize me as an offensive-minded defenseman and, when the points weren't there, they didn't pick me."
