from Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun,
Here is a look, in no particular order, at 10 of the more prominent UFAs who are poised to hit the market.
1. F Jarome Iginla, 35, Penguins
Iginla’s streak of 11-consecutive 30-goal seasons is about to come to an end, but he could still provide some pop and leadership even in this, the downside of his career. Interesting to see if Ray Shero can find the cap space to retain him. Won’t get the $7-million cap hit he carries this season.
2. F Nathan Horton, 27, Bruins
Past concussion problems might be warning signs for teams looking to ink Horton who, with a cap hit of $4 million this season, entered play Saturday with just 22 points in 40 games.
3. F Stephen Weiss, 30, Panthers
A wrist injury meant the end of the season for Weiss, who has a cap hit of $3.1 million in 2013. Given the shortage of reliable centres in the league, count on a team overpaying for him.
