Potential Top UFAs

from Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun,

Here is a look, in no particular order, at 10 of the more prominent UFAs who are poised to hit the market.

1. F Jarome Iginla, 35, Penguins

Iginla’s streak of 11-consecutive 30-goal seasons is about to come to an end, but he could still provide some pop and leadership even in this, the downside of his career. Interesting to see if Ray Shero can find the cap space to retain him. Won’t get the $7-million cap hit he carries this season.

2. F Nathan Horton, 27, Bruins

Past concussion problems might be warning signs for teams looking to ink Horton who, with a cap hit of $4 million this season, entered play Saturday with just 22 points in 40 games.

3. F Stephen Weiss, 30, Panthers

A wrist injury meant the end of the season for Weiss, who has a cap hit of $3.1 million in 2013. Given the shortage of reliable centres in the league, count on a team overpaying for him.

these clowns keep talking like it is impossible to resign him, Personally Brenden Morrow has been much better. But Kennedy is not going to be back @ 2.2 million they have to offer him, Orpik needs to be traded to open up logjam a Defensemen for Pens & Doug Murray is better & cheaper than Orpik anyways, 3.5 Million there. Craig Adams is about done so let him walk.

Bottom Line it is doable

Hear that, Ken Holland?  There is no defensive free agent help on the horizon.  Sergei Gonchar is the top one and, yeah… the less said the better.

So I hope you really do like your team, because that’s the exact same team you’re going to struggle with next season too.

I would like Horton and wouldn’t mind Weiss but after that? Crickets. I agree with Primis in what you see now is probably what you’ll see next year except Tatar will be up full time which is just like a free agent signing. Ooofff….

How does a list of the top potential UFAs not include David Clarkson and Pascal Dupuis?  Am I missing something?
