There are no excuses for the Edmonton Oilers this year. If this team doesn’t turn the corner and compete hard for a playoff spot, it’s a sure sign that this mix of players doesn’t have what it takes.

Why do I say this?

The Oilers are a team that has gone through a radical rebuild, using the highest end draft picks to reshape the roster. A few other teams have gone this same route in recent decades. When we look closely at them we see that the successful teams didn’t have to wait very long for their squads to turn the corner and compete hard for the playoffs.
