There's no cause for alarm, folks. No need to call the fire department. That smoke pouring out of the windows at the Wild's executive offices is coming from two non-threatening sources: Bob Naegele Jr.'s checkbook and Doug Risebrough's ballpoint pen. Both the pen and the checkbook still are smoldering after a frenetic couple of weeks in which the team payroll elevated from about $25 million to $39 million. Risebrough put the pen to another big check Wednesday, signing Marian Gaborik to a three-year contract. Suddenly, the Wild are playoff material.
