With NHL teams preparing for the start of training camp, here are 10 players whose performances could make or break their team during the 2016-17 season:

1. Kari Lehtonen (Dallas Stars): The Stars are a high-scoring Stanley Cup contender, and Lehtonen hasn’t proven that he is the right netminder to lead them to a championship.

2. Brian Campbell (Chicago Blackhawks): He can do for the Blackhawks’ defense what Johnny Oduya did before he jumped to the Dallas Stars. Campbell has the potential to make the Blackhawks whole again.

3. Frans Nielsen (Detroit Red Wings): With Pavel Datsyuk now in the Kontinental Hockey League, the Red Wings need Nielsen to be a significant offensive contributor as a No. 2 center.
