Per NHLPA, Three Issues Need To Be Resolved

via the CP at TSN,

Steve Fehr says he believes the NHL's labour deal can be wrapped up quite quickly once the sides make a breakthrough in negotiations.

Speaking at the Prime Time Sports Management Conference, the special counsel to the NHL Players' Association says three issues remain to be solved: the split of money, player contract rules and who pays for the damage caused by the lockout.

"One thing Bill Daly and I agree on," he said at the conference. "When the moment is right, a deal will be done very quickly."

Fehr added that the NHLPA is open to mediation in the negotiations, an option he believes the NHL is not prepared to take. "My impression is the league isn't terribly interested it," he said.

I think fehr look for atleast 85% of contracts being honored. nhl will have cave in.

this will be wrap up by end of the week. NHL and PA finally seeing what has been already screwed up.

Oh, that’s all?  Easy peasy!

Does Fehr mean that Phoenix, Florida, and Columbus are giving a bonus to their players for the money saved by the lockout?  It’s the very fact that there is little in the way of “damage” for a big chunk of drowning or floundering franchises that has made this lockout possible.

i say 2 issues really. As for ” who pays for the damage caused by the lockout.”, well I say no one. You get paid for games played, plain and simple. Doesnt matter who locked out who, or who went on strike(yea i know players didnt strike). This is horse poop seriously. You get prorated from here on out. Let’s say a deal is reached and we play hockey December 1st. In that timeframe its settled there will be a 60 game schedule. You get prorated pay of 60 games. If players seek full year contract for 60 games then I think thats just plain wrong. If my math isnt wrong 60 games is roughly 85% of the season. So you were to make $4 mill this year and at 85% you wind up with $3.4 mill paycheck. And Don and Steve want them to pay more?

Again I dont wanna take either side in the matter any more, I just want hockey, but this is ridiculous.
