Penguins Don’t Show Up

from Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,
The company line coming from the Penguins’ room Tuesday night was surprisingly upbeat. It sure seemed as if coach Dan Bylsma told the players to keep things positive despite the ugly 5-1 home loss to the Ottawa Senators, the team’s fifth consecutive defeat. The players talked of liking their effort but hating their execution in key spots. They came across as lying through their teeth. Bylsma did his part, talking mostly about “some serious gaffes” that led to a couple of early Ottawa goals that made for a long night.
It really was a crock.
The effort stunk.
It’s one thing to lose a big game at home. It’s something inexcusable to not show up. The Penguins weren’t ready to play at best and didn’t seem to care at worst.

Hey Mike !! nice to see you over here! Yep ! Bylsma hot seat just got Hotter, Completely No-Show & lets not forget Shero who insists on NEVER drafting talented Europeans & they have very little help on the way on the Wings
Combine that with the Over Drafting of D-Men at the expense of wingers doubles the Problem

I don’t pay a lot of attention to the East, but why is playing Ottawa a “big game”? They’re in a different division and are not a rivalry.

Agree with everything you said here except for the DB hot seat comment. DB has done a wonderful job with what he has been dealt.
The real issue right now with the pens is what you mentioned above. Only Canadians and Americans on the team and in their farm system and almost entirely all defensemen drafted in the past 3 years.

I think the big game he is talking about is the loss to the Rangers at home.

No It’s Bylsma system that leads to the drafting of North-South Forwards Crash bang guys like Kunitz who is Matt Cooke 2.0 at double the salary
They Have NO Legit NHL caliber wingers close to NHL , At least 3 Years away & that is why you see Tangradi, Williams & McDonald called up when Guys like Crosby & Staal go down, No organIzational scoring depth at a
Never been a Bylsma fan, The guy took over in a perfect storm, The Players were sick of MT BS & they would have played well for Minny Mouse they were so Happy Therrien was gone
Even though he is not that good, Losing Nick Johnson oin waivers so they could keep the SLUG MacIntyre is another gaffe by the FO/Coaches
also allowing BYlsma to hire Guys who think just like him & no one there to have a different viewpoint1

How many key players do you have to lose to injury before a loss is legit? Also, I cannot believe anyone could be down on Bylsma after last year’s unlikely magic. You lot are a little to used to constantly winning.

No last year is gone the Curtain Jerkers overperformed, I give them credit for that, But they also blew a 3-1 lead on a Bad TB team & made Roloson look like Hasek in his prime. This season they are playing to their talent level !

The effort was not there, and and don’t know how anyone can say it was. For example, Malkin had only one shot on goal. The backchecking was virtually non-existent. And we won’t even talk about yet another bad start by Johnson. Days of despair are upon us.
