Penguins Advance To Eastern Conference Finals

With a 6-2 win over the Ottawa Senators, the Pittsburgh Penguins move on to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Senators had a tough time finding any momentum and now many will ask if Daniel Alfredsson has played his last NHL game.

THAT is how you close out a series.  Wings will need this kind of conviction.

The Pens owe a big thank you to the Islanders. They exposed a real weakness on the Pens, which Bylsma, to his credit, finally adjusted to. And it was not Fleury. It was the Pens actually coming back and supporting a controlled breakout of the puck when the stretch pass was not there. The Pens are looking down ice, reading what is there, and taking what is given.

The Pens this series and the Islander series until the final couple games was night and day, and it was not entirely about the Islander’s speed. I am convinced even Fleury would look better with this kind of support and not being hung out to dry as he was in most of that Islander series. Do not get me wrong, I am sold that Vokoun is the better goalie option. What I am saying is that Bylsma, although slow to learn, did make a huge adjustment, and we have the Islanders to thank for exposing it.
