Patrick Kane Maturing

from Scott Burnside of ESPN,

After developing a reputation as a party boy—especially after scoring the Stanley Cup-winning goal in Game 6 of the 2010 Stanley Cup finals—Kane appears to have embraced a more pastoral lifestyle.

It’s a small thing, but with his parents and a friend in town for the All-Star proceedings, Kane insisted that team staff working over the weekend join them for dinner.

“He’s not the kid in that way that he used to be,” Bowman said.

For a period of time, photos of Kane out on the town would regularly pop up in various places on the Internet, but those occasions seem to have waned. There are few reports of excessive socializing in Chicago or on the road.

“I don’t know. I think as time goes on you start to grow up a little bit,” Kane said Friday. “I probably learned that ever since I was 18 ‘til 23, now every year, I think I get a little bit more mature and start focusing on the things that really matter in life.

“For me, I think I’m still a kid. I mean everyone likes to have their fun and do some different things away from the rink. I’ve always kind of prided myself on being myself and trying to stick true to who I am and how I was raised.”

Dead horse: prepare for a beating….

P. Kane, irregardless of any skill he has, is an embarrassment to the game, more so than Avery.

The kid was making over half a million a year while looking at millions in the near future and he wants to rob and assault a cabbie over 15 cents?

NO CLASS. And it’s not like he acts tough on the ice either, then again his opposition isn’t out of shape geriatric taxi drivers who work real jobs for a living.

It doesn’t matter how much he matures, he could have evening tea with the Queen while working with inner city youth to end world hunger and he would still be a massive D-Bag.

His actions weren’t a matter of just being young and dumb, they showed a severe lack of ethics and common sense. Immaturity didn’t lead to his actions, being a shitty human being did.

Perhaps this is one of the million reasons I’m not a GM outside of anywhere but Eastside Hockey Manager - but I would’ve traded that bum for a bag of pucks (to the East) just to have that dorky-ass “I shave lines in my head like I’m fresh ‘cos it’s still 1993” bitch Patrick Kane.

Having legal trouble’s isn’t the worst thing you can do, lot’s of players have had them, even some I like, admire, or respect. But assaulting people who can’t defend themselves is pretty inexcusable.

</end pointless rant that occupied my morning smoke>
