In an article featured on USA Today's website, the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle's Kevin Oklobjiza reveals that Patrick Roy's son, Frederic, has graduated from the QMJHL, and the one-time scoring machine's reinvented himself as a super-pest as a member of the AHL's Rochester Americans:
"My family, we're passionate people," Roy said. "Everything we do, we take great pride in it. We don't do something for nothing. We want to succeed."
In Frederick's case, he's willing to do whatever the team needs. While scoring was his game in junior, he won't be a top-six forward with the Amerks. He's an agitator and grinder, a third- or fourth-line forward who loves to pursue the puck on the forecheck, block shots on the penalty kill and barrel into opponents.
Yes, he's only 5-10 and 168 pounds, but he definitely has his father's snarl. And on-ice temper.
