Passionate Play Returning

via the NY Post,
"There's a physical element that can prevail," says Ranger coach Tom Renney. "Last year I thought [calls] were pretty tough, but this year they are allowing passionate play to be part of the game." Currently, this offer is available only on an official-by-official basis. But if the pendulum is indeed swinging back - and there remains zero tolerance for defensemen swinging sticks at scorers' backs - the NHL is reintroducing the element of courage, a good thing, just not necessarily for the Rangers.
