Panthers Hosting Day/Night Doubleheader Against Predators, Small Turnout For Game 1

I think the Florida Panthers may be having some trouble moving tickets.

Below, look at what you see when first visiting their website.

that is sad, but really… what did they expect.  they don’t have much in attendance on a Saturday night game with free hotdogs and beer.

Tickets were only $1, but parking is $20.

Just a bad decision on the team to have a day game on a work day, kids back in school too.

I am sure other sites will be jumping on this, another example how the NHL can’t attract fans.

True, but when a fat lady wears a G-string to the beach, we still have a responsibility to point an laugh.  she brought it on herself.  am I right?

You are correct GTL, you would have thought someone in the organization would have said, wait, this is not going to work out well.

Puck Daddy talked to the Panthers about the low attendance, read their response...

This is a stark contrast to the Habs pre-season game against the Sabres last night. I listened to it on the radio, and it sounded like a freakin’ playoff game at times.

Crazy.

We get more people than that for beer league games.

And I thought the split-squad yotes vs kings game was bad attendancewise last night, couldn’t have been more than 2500 people or so.

One thing I can say is that it was quite the bloody and violent affair for such a game…

12k in LA and 6700 in Phoenix. I am not sure why Florida is even hosting preseason games, better PR to play them all on the road or sell them to smaller rinks in other towns.

My favorite part is that if you go the Panthers official site, in the upper-right you’ll see them instagramming and tweeting pictures of the empty arena from the team’s official accounts even.

How does that happen?

George Richards tweeted the Panthers announced attendance at 6,541 for the doubleheader.
