from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun,
This day started with a team meeting without coaches. Senior adviser Bryan Murray, who stepped down from his general manager post Sunday, addressed the players, expressed his confidence in GM Pierre Dorion and indicated he’ll be there to lend a hand in whatever way he’s wanted.
After that broke up, the players went down the hall individually to meet with Dorion and some other members of the staff for honest discussions. He promised Sunday there would be some harsh talks with those who didn’t perform up to expectations this year.
On that front, there will be no shortage of candidates.
Cameron and his staff — who were told the organization would be in touch in the next couple of days — not being there basically says this group should get ready to embrace its seventh coaching change since going to the Stanley Cup final in 2007.
To be fair, the players did stand by Cameron.
“The actions and responsibility would be more on the players (if a change is made),” said winger Bobby Ryan Monday.
