OT- 37 Years Ago Tonight

from Wikipedia,

Shortly after 7:10 p.m. the Fitzgerald suddenly sank in Canadian waters 530 feet (160 m) deep, approximately 17 miles (15 nautical miles; 27 kilometers) from the entrance to Whitefish Bay near the twin cities of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Although the Fitzgerald had reported being in difficulty earlier, no distress signals were sent before she sank. Her crew of 29 all perished, and no bodies were recovered.

Good stuff Paul.

You hoping to call on Chief’s mojo (pulling out Gordon; the big guns) and end this stupid lockout?

I remember that storm so very well. We felt the impact of the storm here in ‘the Soo’, twenty miles away. I was young, but will never forget that afternoon, and watching our cat try to get to the backdoor of our house, but she couldn’t, because the winds were so violent. She was pinned against the neighbors house, and eventually made it under their porch for shelter.

The wreck of the ‘Fitz’ resonates with people up here much as the Challenger disaster does with the rest of America; everyone remembers well where they were, and what they were doing as the tragedy unfolded.
