Kukla's Korner Hockey

With many thanks to our Swedish Oiler fan Martin Lundén, there is an update on newly drafted Oiler Oscar Klefbom. As you may recall, Klefbom was selected 19th overall with the pick acquired from Los Angeles in exchange for winger Dustin Penner on trade deadline day.
Klefbom has made some fans concerned by stating that he intends to play out his contract with Färjestads BK of the Swedish Elite league, but seem to forget that Klefbom is also excited at the prospect of playing with so many Swedes in the Oilers’ lineup. Unfortunately for Klefbom, he has run into some injury issues as of late, and Martin Lundén brings us some clarity.
Klefbom was unlucky enough to get cut on his thigh by an ice skate, the wound was sewn with ten stitches, and when the stitches were removed there was an infection. Now Klefbom is on penicillin which also prohibits him from playing.
This is extremely sad. Not only does it sound like the freak accident that finished Sam Gagner’s last season, but it also has a little of Sheldon Souray bad luck mixed in.
A standard dose of antibiotics tends to run 10 days, so hopefully Klefbom will not be out too much longer, or there should be news relatively soon.
Who would have thought that the Oiler bug was contageous so far away?
