Options For Souray

from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal,
The chance of a trade before the seasons starts is slim. The problem for the Oilers is that on Wednesday teams must file their 23-man rosters to the league.
Tambellini doesn’t want to add Souray to the roster, even though the Oilers are more than $6 million under the league’s $59.4 million salary cap.
If he’s not dealt, the Oilers will certainly assign Souray to the AHL by Wednesday or just before that.
“It’s not an option to have him sitting. He has to be playing,” said Tambellini, who didn’t want Souray on the ice during training camp, but knows that once the season starts teams want to see if he has returned to form, no matter where he’s playing….
The New York Rangers are likely interested in Souray after dumping Wade Redden’s $6.5-million salary, and not just because Doug Risebrough, their pro scout, has seen the Oilers play four straight games.
