The question must be asked.  Is Ryan Miller really all that?

Game 1 of Grand Rapids Griffins playoff series was the best game of the night. Double overtime thriller with the Griffs down 1-0 the entire game only to tie it up with about 7min left in the 3rd on a gorgeous goal by Backman. Then they go on to win it in double OT, Sproul with the game winner.

What a game! If the Wings aren’t going to win it all this year, I’m going to switch to focusing on rooting for the Griffs to repeat. I wonder which of the kids on the Wings are still eligible to play for the Griffs it the Wings get knocked out? I think Glendening is out of waivers now isn’t he? Sheahan might still be able to play the rest of this year. I’d think Jurco can be sent back down. That might be it though.

I know we may see Mantha soon enough which is exciting, but I have to say Andreas Athanasiou looked great out there. Noticed him almost every time he was out there. I think he will excel in the AHL pretty quickly. Backman looked great with a sick goal. Zach Nastasiuk had his first AHL point with an assist on the OT winner. Great all around game from yet the next batch of kids coming up.

It’ll be crazy if this team repeats after losing most of their best players. Talk about rebuilding on the fly
