Open Post- Team Canada vs. Team USA, Winner Will Meet Team Sweden For Gold

The puck drops at 12:00pm ET today and can be viewed on NBCSN and CBC.

The winner will advance to the gold medal game on Sunday at 7:00am ET and face Team Sweden.

I invite you to join in on the discussion.

A late scratch for Team USA is defenseman Paul Martin, who according to USA Hockey is ill.  Other reports say he was seen with a wrap/cast on his hand.

Justin Faulk will replace Martin.

This should be a fantastic game. Canada’s offense is seems due for some goals, so hopefully Mr. Quick is prepared to stand on his head. USA has been solid all tournament, I like their chances. I’m already kicking myself for not requesting today off work though. Horrible mistake!!

Really fast game so far - come the third period we will likely be getting a better idea of who truly has the most depth.

Yes, I know..One would think that the lower seed would get last change.

Regarding line change, read today and can’t remember where, but Canada has 5 seconds to make change, then US has 8 to counter.

So the US does have last change. Emeric alluded to the matchup with Backus and Crosby and the chess match early in the first. They way he put it sounded like Canada had the last change.

Well, shiet. Great job by Canada’s defensemen preventing the Americans from any sort of sustained pressure and for yet again scoring the goals for Team Canada.

As a Canadian I would like to thank the US brain trust for not selecting Bobby Ryan.

The bitching that Canada spewed about their offense during this tournament, the difference, as always, was the play in the defensive side of the ice. Congrats to Canada and their citizens. They deserved the shot at the gold. GO Sweden
