Finland picked up the pace in the third. Good period for both teams. OT and the winner loses a point in the standings. Should help the US in the match up pairings.

Finland played them tough, but without their top players, no chance on offense. Good game all in all.

Such a dreadful bore.  I damn near fell asleep.  To bad Canada won and too bad my Kings are scoring now that they play for someone else. Is Sutter the issue?

Obligatory Detroit criticism incoming -  smile

Has Team Canada fallen under the Holland/Babcock indecisiveness spell when it comes to line up jumbles and lack of killer instinct?

Oh come on, someone had to say it.

Canada doesn’t scare anyone in the least right now. Team USA didn’t play that great of a game today and I wouldn’t pick their defense and netminder over Canada’s (or Finland’s for that matter) but could Canada slow down Team USA? Not too sure about that.

Haha, right? Their defense is great and Doughty is huge for Canada right now with 4 of their 11 goals. I’d personally roll with Quick before Price, but that’s just me. Rask and Hiller seem to have been the best goaltenders through the preliminary round, but the prelims ain’t the elimination round so we’ll see who’s who pretty soon.

Canadas forwards though? You see what a big deal losing Zetterberg was for Sweden emotionally, and how important it is for Pavel to be out there for Russia. The way Crosby has been playing ... I don’t know if he’s bringing the passion to that group the same with Pav and Hank do/would. At least Toews gets fired up. What does everyone else think?

Babcock is a winner, I get that, but he is a hockey equivalent of a “three yards and a cloud of dust” blockhead.

Babcock seemed to have zero problem coaching and winning with a puck possession system – which is the antithesis to what you’re saying – when he had the horses in Detroit way back when.

And Team Canada ain’t exactly short on the skill front ... maybe it’s time for some of their forwards to show up?

Fair points by some kid.  But Babcock and Canada seem ultra conservative and tentative so far.  Quick makes USA equal to anyone they face.
