After tonight's game, either the New York Islanders or Boston Bruins will be facing elimination. The series is ts tied 2-2.

The Montreal Canadiens can sweep the Winnipeg Jets tonight with a home win.

Pre-game

* When tied 2-2 in a best-of-seven, Boston holds an all-time series record of 18-17 (0.514); they are 22-5 (0.815) when leading 3-2 and 4-21 (0.160) when trailing 3-2.

* When tied 2-2 in a best-of-seven, New York holds an all-time series record of 6-6 (0.500); they are 12-1 (0.923) when leading 3-2 and 3-9 (0.250) when trailing 3-2.

* The Bruins own a record of 37-46 (.446) in Game 5 of best-of-seven series; the Islanders are 16-22 (.421).

* The Islanders have boosted their offense in the playoffs, averaging 0.50 goals per game more in the playoffs (3.20 G/GP; 3rd) versus the regular season (2.71; 21st) - including six of 10 games in which they scored four or more goals.

* Smithtown, N.Y. native Kyle Palmieri leads the Islanders with five goals this postseason (5-2—7 in 10 GP). Only four Islanders players in the last 30 years have scored more through their first 10 games of a playoff year than Palmieri: Anthony Beauvillier (6 in 2020), John Tavares (6 in 2016), Ray Ferraro (11 in 1993) and Pierre Turgeon (6 in 1993). Additionally, his three road goals trail only Carolina’s Sebastian Aho (4) for the most among all players in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.


* The next playoff goal Patrice Bergeron scores will break a tie with Phil Esposito (46) for sole possession of second most in franchise history, behind only Cam Neely (55). Bergeron (46-73—119 in 158 GP) is also one point shy of becoming the third player in Bruins history to record 120 playoff points with the franchise. He would join Ray Bourque (36-125—161 in 180 GP) and teammate David Krejci (41-80—121 in 154 GP).


* David Pastrnak leads all Bruins players with 11 points during the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs (5-6—11 in 9 GP) and has collected 25-39—64 in his postseason career (61 GP). Pastrnak can become just the fifth active player to record 40 playoff assists in 62 career contests or fewer, in which he would join Sidney Crosby (50 GP), Evgeni Malkin (54 GP), Erik Karlsson (55 GP) and Jason Spezza (62 GP).



Pre-game

* The Canadiens own a record of 59-62 (.488) in Game 4 of best-of-seven series; the Jets are 3-4 (.429).

* Montreal, which owns an all-time record of 33-0 when leading 3-0 in a best-of-seven series, have recorded an NHL-record 22 sweeps in that scenario. They are 29-0 (1.000) when they lead 3-1.


* When trailing 3-0 in a best-of-seven, Winnipeg holds an all-time series record of 0-2 (.000); they are 0-1 (.000) when trailing 3-1

* Montreal last won a best-of-seven series in which it held a 3-0 lead in 2014 (R1 vs. TBL).

* The Jets aim to become the fifth team in NHL history to erase a 3-0 deficit. The only teams to do so: 2014 Kings (R1 vs. SJS), 2010 Flyers (CSF vs. BOS), 1975 Islanders (QF vs. PIT) and 1942 Maple Leafs (SCF vs. DET).
