Open Post- Day 2, Stanley Cup Playoffs

Tonight should be another great night to settle in and watch some playoff hockey.

The Blues will be without  T.J. Oshie and Patrik Berglund, the Flyers are starting Ray Emery and their #1 goaltender Steve Mason will join the Flyers in NYC tomorrow but is still questionable for game 2.

Also, there was some question of the starting goaltender for San Jose and this morning the Sharks announced Antti Niemi as their starter.

Enjoy and feel free to comment on the games...

Checking in and I’ll be scoping just two games:  PHI/NYR and LAK/SJS (which promises to holy hell exciting).

Like yesterday, I don’t have a horse in this race.  Just wanna see a game or two.

Not related to today’s games, but I think there’s a number of Pens fans who will get a kick outta this:

Since someone was bound to say it….shouldn’t Sid be on the ice instead of up in the stands?

Did not know this ‘bout Ken Daniels:

On June 4, 2008, Daniels filled-in for regular Detroit radio broadcast announcer Ken Kal for Game 6 of the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals between the Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kal was suffering from laryngitis and thus, was unable to call the game. The Red Wings had a 3-2 lead in the series and won the game, and the cup. With 45 seconds left in the game, Daniels took off the headset and handed the game over to Kal, stating to Kal, “I don’t care if you can’t talk, you have to bring it home”. Kal called the final 10 seconds, and was able to make the call “...The Detroit Red Wings are the 2008 Stanley Cup Champions!”

Very cool.

The NBCSN crew is saying hard to fault Miller on those 3 goals on 7 shots ... but from this fan’s perspective I’d be fuchin’ livid if Howard was playing like this.

First goal was very soft, and even though it was a breakaway, he didnt put up much of a fight on the 3rd

Posted by Hootinani on 04/17/14 at 08:52 PM ET

SK77's avatar

Yeah, and I personally felt that the 2nd goal—while a powerplay—was still unscreened, low to the ice, and Miller was just slow to kick out his left leg on it.

Well obviously I don’t know WTF I’m talking about. Milbury is on the intermission segment right now saying Miller is sucking ass.
