Open Post- Day 19 Of The Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Lightning and Hurricanes can go up 3-0 with a win today and one team will go up 2-1 in the Oilers/Flames series.

If you haven't been watching the BoA, do so just to watch Connor McDavid who has raised his game a notch or two in the playoffs.

Well, Florida can’t find their ass with both hands and a flashlight, and the Bolts are rounding into form. Not sure anyone will stop them, now that the Leafs had the best shot at it and couldn’t get it done.

Panthers will be 0-3 in a few minutes, they are down 4-1 with 3 minutes left.

Rangers up 1-0 in the 1st.

Did I just see Brendan Smith successfully break up a 4 on 1?

Burnette just looks out of his league.

To be fair though, Tampa looks like a different team than the first 3 or 4 games against Toronto

My two centavos? Tampa understands what it takes to win, Florida is learning. TB very much reminds me of the Red Wings circa the late nineties. Who knows what might have happened if Vladdie wasn’t injured. To me he was as important to Detroit’s defense as Lidstrom.

Anywho, I am very much enjoying all of the playoffs this year.

No cracks at the Oilers and Holland tonight?

Holland signing Kane is paying big dividends
I’ll say I thought it was a risky signing but major kudos - he’s had a huge impact.

Really tired of seeing all these goalies getting run into-Smith the latest one. He’s had plenty of flops in his day but no one intentionally falls with their legs bent like that.

Yes, and the Calgoons are predictably gooning it up.  angry

Oh and now suddenly the NHL is back to the concussion protocol smoke and mirrors.

I’m cheering for Edmonton and - why not - Holland.

And not just because Calgary is a deploying a goon
lineup.

This has certainly been written before, but it really is
mind-blowing the league hasn’t found a way - from the second they
knew Edmonton and Calgary were facing each other in this round,
to promote this series as just how crazy and exciting and skilled and physical
NHL playoffs between rivals can be. Just how much sublime talent there is on display. McDavid has been absolutely nuts! Draisaitl has been making plays and racing to pucks and finishing scoring chances on one leg. Zach Hyman, the most likable former Leaf, has been grinding and going to the net and controlling to puck under heavy pressure and finishing his own chances. Kane hasn’t played totally error-free hockey (nor have the others) but he has hands, reach, smarts, and finish around the net and can skate well enough to separate and force goalies to move side to side. You’d expect Kane or especially Kassian to commit some bad penalties but they’re staying relatively disciplined.

I have no idea why the NHL and its broadcasting partners aren’t showcasing this series. Yeah you’ve gotta be fair to fans in both Alberta cities and out west in general. But playing these games way too late for more casual fans in the eastern third of NA is such a missed opportunity
