Open Post- Day 16 Of The Stanley Cup Playoffs

Florida certainly does not want to head to Tampa down 0-2.

Colorado has yet to lose in the playoffs, will that change tonight?

Discuss if so inclined.

When did the word physicality become popular in sports?

Three times tonight from Kenny Albert.  I’m edgy tonight.

dd… frustrated by the lak of Detroit coverage, KK 2.0 is close, will have an announcement tomorrow, beta testing will start over the weekend but it took way too long to this point.

Significant other keeps asking me when is this hockey over.  When I say first week of July she gives me one of those stares.

I make her a Titos martini so she’s out for the night!

“Tampa looks tired and disinterested down the stretch. Back to back cup runs have drained them. Just don’t have it this year, the east is just too stacked, can’t just expect to flip a switch.”

Sure seems like they heard the critics and took their words personally. If anyone knows how to grind out playoff games it’s those guys.

That Tampa goal at the end was nuts.

Binnington earning his pay so far these playoffs.

I am old enough to have seen Kucherov score with 8 seconds left in Game 2 - 2020 Semifinals - beating the Isles.

Also old enough to see Mike Bossy score with 2 seconds left in Game 1 of the 1982 finals.

2 KILLERS if I ever saw them.  This play was set up by Kucherov and he saw Colton all the way.

I have faith in the Panthers.  When I saw them live this year -  it was the night the Isles honored Mike Bossy about a month + ago.  Barkov had a hat trick and the game winner in OT was a thing of beauty.

Their power play was just awesome - and it was without Ekblad.

I would dress Jumbo as both Ace and Biz said and put him on the 4th line and the pp and shake it up.
I DO think FLA can win.  The 0 power play goals in 9 games is a fluke.  They will break out and it BETTER BE IN GAME 3 or its OVER.

They win Game 3 - then in Game 4 - they can make it a series.

Kucherov stepped up his game as Point became unavailable.  He is just willing it.

Barkov needs to do the same.  So does Huby.

She does know what you do for a living, right?

Now that’s a true “romantic” right there. Smooooth, Paul.  LOL

NHL hockey is such a strange game
- not least in goal.

How bad was Binnington’s playoff record and numbers
in between game seven the year they won it all
- 2019 - until he got into net in these playoffs.

It was pretty brutal. Focus was more on Binnington
the hothead. No wonder they turned to Hudson.
Binnington gets another opportunity and now he looks like
he could give St. Louis a fighting chance against arguably
the deepest, most talented team.

Husso, that is.

I’d tend to think if a team is counting on Joe Thornton
at this stage of his career no less, they’re grasping at straws.
He’s not exactly Joe Pavelski when it counts the most.

But stranger things have happened.
I’d think you’d want to have last change
to try and deploy him safely. Old, really slow,
never a good defender, and kind of a penalty magnet.
But of course on the plus side, he’s got size, vision, reach,
and might still have the hands and touch to feather a sweet assist.

Florida is toast. 0 for 25 on the power play is killing them. Between Tampa’s clogging up the slot, Vasilevsky being on his game, and Kucherov willing the team to win at all costs, I don’t see a FL comeback. Florida can press all they want (like Toronto did), but the D and goaltending of Tampa and their opportunistic goals are making them almost impossible to beat in a 4 game series,

I still don’t think Tampa wins a 3rd cup this season. Someone will bump them off.
