On The Road With The Wings

Wings coach Mike Babcock has learned a lot about his players this week. Babcock has watched his players interact with loved ones during a special trip that is being paid for by Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch. The players, coaches and support staff were allowed to invite a father, male family member or mentor to attend Monday's home game against Pittsburgh, then come along on the Wings' trip to play Atlanta, Florida and Tampa Bay.

They've had better road trips, record-wise, but for the Detroit Red Wings, bring-your-dad-to-work week was a resounding success. Coach Mike Babcock said the club's first fathers/mentors trip was as enlightening as it was enjoyable.
