late and straight for the head – what’s up with that, shane?

I think it’s more than just a coincidence that Shane is involved with those kinds of hits. He plays hard, remember him in the playoffs against Detroit last season. I like Shane as a player, would want him on my team, but c’mon, there’s a point where his play is going to hurt the team as a whole.

I hate to go down that road because that’s part of the game that makes hockey exciting, big (clean) hits, fast play, etc, but injuring people consistently is going to warrant a closer look at him. Once you open that door, everything is getting scrutinized. And it doesn’t help the NHL isn’t consistent or logical with it’s disciplinary actions.

Spin the wheel, Colin. This deserves at least a spin if not a suspension.

I think Doan is starting to be enough of a repeat offender with these that we can no longer assume he’s just “playing hard”.  I think he’s just turned plain dirty…

The elbow to the Mules chin = no suspension.
Why would this be any different, unless Collie’s having a bad hair day.

We’ll never know until we spin! This is almost as exciting and unknowable as the outcome of a game!

Doan = Dirty.

He showed signs of it during the playoffs last year and now two shady hits in one game?

He’s gone to the dark side.

Does he get a favored Canadian son exemption? He’s just a hard working Canadian boy playing hockey the “right ” way. You just have to learn to keep your head up son! Colon spin the wheel and see if this is a 1 or 2 game suspension or maybe just a stern note sent home to his mother.

As obvious as that is, Campbell’s not going to suspend him for anything.  Just slap him on the wrist with a $2,500 fine, Campbell.  He’s a f*ckin’ star in the league.

So not only is Doan overrated, but he appears to be dirty as well. We saw some of this in last year’s Wings/Yotes series where he was running around with his head cut off.

Staying with Doan, came across this pretty cool article today that totally caught me off guard. 15 years to the date that the Jets were sold: http://onthisday.goodnewsweekly.ca/2010/10/october-18-winnipeg-jets-are-sold.html

Crazy how time flies eh?

Oh and Ps. How sick was the Selanne goal?

The NHL has been waiting far too long to step in to correct play that goes above and beyond meaningful conduct.

They need to be swifter and harsher with each and every one of these plays where guys are taking liberties away from the puck with intent to f@ck up somebody’s life.  I don’t care what team or what market you represent, you should always pay the price big time if your intent is to sh!t on this game.

Difference between this and some of the other hits lately is that there is no good hockey reason for it. The play has moved forward, and Doan doesn’t even move to make the hit until well after the puck is moved.

Hjalmarsson, Foligno, Gilbert - all had plays on the puck or puck carrier.
