No Action Will Be Taken Against Turris For Hit Delivered Last Night

NEW YORK (February 26, 2012) – Following a telephone hearing conducted this afternoon, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety has decided that no supplemental discipline is merited for a hit by Ottawa Senators forward Kyle Turris against Boston Bruins defenseman Joe Corvo in NHL Game No. 919 on Saturday, Feb. 25, in Ottawa.

“Because there was enough head contact on this hit, the Department of Player Safety felt it was necessary to convene a hearing to examine the play further,” NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety and Hockey Operations Brendan Shanahan said. “After reviewing the video extensively as we heard Turris’ explanation of how the play developed, we concluded that the head was not targeted intentionally or even recklessly and that the circumstances surrounding the hit contributed significantly to the amount of head contact that resulted.

“We therefore have decided that there will be no supplemental discipline added to the penalty assessed on the play.”

Seems like the head was the target and he lunged upward. Seems he should have gotten at least 1 game.

Like I’ve said a couple times. Shannaban has a hate on for Boston. Blind side hit, head targeted and principle point of contact, no action, Subban’s bs a bit back? Nothing, Campbell getting clipped in the same game and the exact same fashion Marchand gets suspended for the same type of play.

etc etc etc.

If it wasn’t obvious before it should be now.
