No To Special Attention For The NHL In Canada

from Doug Smith of the Toronto Star,

In no way, shape or form should our federal government do anything “special” to relax border restrictions on Canadians coming back to the country or others trying to enter Canada simply to appease hockey fans who won’t be able to go see the games anyway.

And shame on any city or provincial officials – and, yeah, I’m looking at you Toronto and Edmonton – who think for even a second about lobbying Ottawa to change its policies.

This is so, so, so much bigger than what misguided sense of “pride” someone might get from having 10 professional hockey teams play in empty arenas in their cities.

Hopefully, and I have to be optimistic that this will be the case, the federal government will see past any ploy to get them to change policies in place for the greater society just to appease a minority of pucks fans who won’t be able to get near the games or the players anyway.

Well at least I brought up the Bigger Border issues earlier, went right over Bettman’s Head but that is easy when you are 2 Feet tall and shrinking

AAH, Toronto Montreal and Ottawa might as well chill out, they are not going to get picked, too much virus in these areas right now plus both Montreal and Toronto are playing, no home cities.  Detroit and Buffalo are in the running for games and maybe New Jersey, but if no fans allowed it doesn’t matter to much.  The West will probably be all California, same time zone.  My suggestion would be to sell some tickets for a little bit of fan reaction, 10%???

Yes you know the pandemic well!  Mostly Toronto a crowding to Beaches , 2nd wave coming soon, unfortunately.  Quebec just messed up their plans.  Too bad all the Seniors were helped too late and many passed away.
Horgan Premier in BC has done a quick about face.  Now is not going to bend anything rules, etc for the NHL.  I guess Winnipeg has a pretty Good record .

Alberta wants to separate with all the OIL.

Wouldn’t be surprised if some of the states don’t back Trump.

A 2nd Wave of Covid and players will be stuck away from families again.

I still haven’t heard about the AHL/ECHL etc

I still say they should pull the Pin on this Season and Hope to start sort of fresh in October.

Will just wait for the beat writers to get a guess that is close to the truth
