No Respect For The Bolts

from Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune,

Seeing how others view this year's version of the Lightning one might think would raise some eyebrows and the team would have gained respect for what it has accomplished, particularly for playing most of the season without prominent goal-scorer Steven Stamkos.

But after clicking on a link Thursday afternoon while in Calgary, the day after Tampa Bay knocked off Vancouver, the description of the Lightning was ... strange.

After the Lightning knocked off the Canucks 4-2, the Vancouver Province used this line in describing the game: “For the Canucks, it was an embarrassingly listless 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. They were fed a cupcake, and most Eastern teams qualify, and choked trying to get it down.”

A cupcake? The No. 3 team in the Eastern Conference, a team with more victories than the Canucks, is considered a cupcake?

Talk about earning no respect.

Jeebus, just laugh it off.  The Bolts have won more Stanley Cups than the Canucks.

Still plenty of games left in the season, so there’s plenty of time for a good ol’ Southeast Division choke to take place, as was common in the division over the years.

The bolts are absolutely not a cupcake team. Towards the beginning of the season, one of the NBC pukes (Keith Jones) called the Bolts the “weak sister” in the division. I think the bolts have shown that they are not a “weak sister,” nor a cupcake, but a stand out team, despite an obvious campaign by NBC Sports, the league and the networks to discredit the Tampa Bay Lightning. They do everything they can to demoralize the team and the fans. The officiating is decidedly anti-bolts, the commentating outside Sun Sports is decidedly anti-bolts, and the other teams don’t respect the Bolts for the high caliber high talent team that they really are. Why? According to the NBC wieners, only the original six are REAL hockey teams.
The Tampa Bay lightning certainly has the potential to be a cup contender this year, and most likely will be for a few more years to come. So Bolts fans, dig in, hunker down and, well, no better way to say it except - let’s make some thunder!
