No Cup Again For Canada

Looks like the drought is going to hit 30 years.

It was 1993 when the Montreal Canadiens became the last Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup. The Edmonton Oilers, the last team from the Great White North still standing in these playoffs, are now on life support.

The Oilers trail the powerhouse Colorado Avalanche three games to none after losing Game 3 on home ice Saturday night by a 4-2 score.

Sadly, a series that looked at the outset like it could be special and entertaining has turned into a one-sided affair. Colorado, even with key injuries, is the far better club, and proving it can be just as good defensively as offensively. The series started with a high-scoring, 14-goal affair, but since then the Avalanche have basically held the Oilers, and their stars, in check.

“You don’t gotta please anybody,” Colorado star Nathan MacKinnon said. “We’re here to make it boring and gross.”
