from David Pollak of Working the Corners at the Mercury News,
The Sharks said last week that Antero Niittymaki was considering a surgical procedure in Southern California to take care of lingering pain tied to last season’s lower body injury.
That procedure has taken place and now the Sharks expect to be without Niittymaki for about 12 weeks.
Which explains why you’ll see Thomas Greiss getting most of the work this exhibition season.
“We need to make sure he’s comfortable, make sure he feels good. He’ll play a lot in the exhibition season and he’ll play full games. At least that’s what the plan is,” the coach said.
