NHLPA Still Has Controversy

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post,
A single sentence from the NHLPA constitution written in 1990 by Alan Eagleson is being used by Ted Saskin to empower the 34-member Executive Board to vote on changing the way team payroll caps and floors will be calculated under the collective bargaining agreement... The Executive Board currently consists of 34 voting members, including four officers (president Trevor Linden, VPs Bill Guerin, Bob Boughner and Daniel Alfredsson) and the 30 team player reps. If the vote both takes place and passes, the upper limit will be set at $5 million above the 54-percent midpoint with the lower limit established at $11M below it, rather than the symmetrical $8M and $8M that was adopted by the NHLPA's ratification vote last July. For next season, this likely will establish the range at $26-42M rather than $29-45M.
read on (reg. req.) Also from Brooks (reg. req.), these players may be drawing attention from the Rangers- Martin Gelinas, Dallas Drake, Gary Roberts, Brian Leetch, Sean Hill & Mike Van Ryn.
