NHL Suspends Islanders Assistant Coach Brent Thompson For Two Games

TORONTO (March 8, 2013) -- New York Islanders assistant coach Brent Thompson has been suspended for two games as a result of being assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 39.5 for inappropriate and abusive comments he directed at the on-ice officials following NHL Game #341 against the New York Rangers on March 7, the National Hockey League announced today.

That seems right. Patrick Kaleta head-butts someone and gets no games, but an assistant coach said some mean things to a ref and he gets 2 games.
There you have it folks, the NHL is more concerned with saving referee’s feelings more than players safety.
