NHL Statement From Bill Daly

NEW YORK (October 4, 2012) – National Hockey League Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly today issued the following statement concerning the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through Oct. 24:

"We were extremely disappointed to have to make today’s announcementThe game deserves better, the fans deserve better and the people who derive income from their connection to the NHL deserve better.

"We remain committed to doing everything in our power to forge an agreement that is fair to the players, fair to the teams and good for our fans.

“This is not about ‘winning’ or ‘losing’ a negotiation. This is about finding a solution that preserves the long-term health and stability of the League and the game.

“We are committed to getting this done.”

The game deserves better, the fans deserve better and the people who derive income from their connection to the NHL deserve better.

At lil’ gary’s next press conference, the sentence above should be followed by:
“Therefore, I have decided to resign as NHL commissioner.”

Actually, he doesn’t even need to make a public appearance. He can just fax a statement to the MSM.

What a disingenuous load of crap.  Every action I’ve seen from the league in the past few months has been in direct opposition of every word of that drivel.

This is completely about winning.  The owners don’t want to negotiate, they intend to get everything they want and won’t move a bit from it.  That’s not negotiations.  The sad part is their answer seems to keep doing exactly what they’ve done in the past, you know that same system that got them to this point.
