WILD, SENATORS DEFEAT DIVISION RIVALS
The Wild (23-17-4, 50 points) and Senators (15-18-9, 39 points) both rode strong performances from their goaltenders en route to defeating division rivals:

* Ryan Suter (1-0—1) broke a third-period tie and Devan Dubnyk made 34 saves to backstop the Wild to victory over the Blackhawks and into the second Wild Card position in the Western Conference. Suter, who paces allWild defensemen with 6-22—28 in 2017-18, has led the team’s blueliners in scoring every season since joining the club in 2012-13.

* The Senators surrendered 2-0 and 3-2 leads before Tom Pyatt scored the game-winning goal with 3:05 remaining in regulation to lift Ottawa to their third win in four contests. Craig Anderson made 45 saves in a victory for the second time in his last three appearances (also Jan. 6 vs. TBL) to improve his career record to 30-6-8 in outings with 40 or more saves.

* Pyatt’s game-winning tally with 3:05 remaining in regulation marked the 43rd time this season a go-ahead goal was scored in the final five minutes of regulation.

CAPITALS, FLAMES LOOK TO EXTEND WINNING STREAKS
The Capitals (27-13-3, 57 points) and Flames (22-16-4, 48 points) look to extend winning streaks when they face the Hurricanes (19-15-8, 46 points) and Lightning (31-9-3, 65 points), respectively.

* The Metropolitan Division-leading Capitals look to extend their overall winning streak to six contests and home winning streak to 11 games. They are only the fourth franchise in NHL history to post a home win streak of at least 10 contests in three or more straight seasons. The others: Penguins (2011-14), Flyers (1974-77) and Bruins, who are the only club in NHL history to record four such campaigns (1972-76). Washington’s current 10-game run at Capital One Arena is the longest home win streak by any NHL team since last season, when theCapitals established a franchise record with 15 consecutive home victories.

* Alex Ovechkin, who leads the League with 27 goals this season (tied w/ Nikita Kucherov), enters Thursday’s contest on a five-game point streak (4-5—9) and sits four assists shy of 500 for his career.

* The Flames – who have won four consecutive games by a one-goal margin including two that required overtime – have been led offensively over their current four-game winning streak by the line of Johnny Gaudreau (0-8—8), Sean Monahan (3-4—7) and Micheal Ferland (3-3—6). Calgary recorded a winning streak of at least five games twice in 2016-17 (10-0-0 from Feb. 21 – Mar. 13, 2017 and 6-0-0 from Nov. 30 – Dec. 10, 2016).
