CANUCKS SNAP SLIDE, BOESER CONTINUES TO PACE ROOKIES
The Sharks overcame a 3-1 deficit, but Sam Gagner scored with 25.7 seconds remaining in overtime to help the Canucks snap a four-game slide (0-4-0).
* Brock Boeser scored to extend his point streak to five games (4-1—5) and leads all rookies in goals and points with 17-13—30 in 2017-18 (30 GP). His 17 goals – which are tied for fifth among all skaters – are the most by a Canucks rookie through his first 30 games of a season.
BOYLE LIFTS DEVILS TO TOP OF METROPOLITAN DIVISION
Brian Boyle collected 2-1—3 to help the Devils improve to 18-9-5 (41 points) this season, tied for the most points in the Metropolitan Division standings (w/ CBJ and WSH).
* Boyle recorded his first multi-goal game of the season and matched a career high with three points (1-2—3 on Dec. 27, 2010 vs. NYI). He has collected 8-3—11 in 22 games since making his return to the Devils lineup on Nov. 1, including two game-winning goals.
NASH POWERS RANGERS TO 13TH HOME WIN
Rick Nash scored the go-ahead goal with 3:27 remaining in regulation to power the Rangers to a 13-5-3 (29 points) record at Madison Square Garden, tied for the most home wins in the NHL this season.
HURRICANES PREVAIL IN OT AFTER SIX-GOAL THIRD PERIOD
Jaccob Slavin (1-1—2) scored at 2:15 of overtime following a high-scoring third period that saw the Hurricanesand Sabres combine for six goals to help Carolina conclude their season-high six-game road trip with a 2-2-2 record.
* Did You Know? There have been 15 instances this season where one period has featured at least six combined goals, including nine such times in the final frame.
EICHEL SCORES FIRST CAREER HAT TRICK
Sabres forward Jack Eichel (3-1—4) scored the first hat trick of his NHL career – including two goals in a span of 10 seconds – and matched a career high with four points (2-2—4 on Dec. 26, 2015 at BOS). His second and third tallies were five seconds shy of the franchise record for fastest two goals by one player, a mark set by Nathan Gerbe on Jan. 21, 2011 vs. NYI (0:05).
GABORIK REACHES 1,000-GAME MILESTONE
Kings forward Marian Gaborik (1-1—2) skated in the 1,000th game of his NHL career, becoming the 18th active player to reach the milestone.
