STONE SCORES IN OT TO GIVE SENATORS WIN IN SWEDEN
Mark Stone
scored twice, including the winning goal at 0:59 of overtime, to give the Senators a victory over the Avalanche in the first game of the 2017 SAP NHL Global Series at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden. The teams close the two-game set today at 1 p.m. on SN, NHLN, RDS and ALT.

* Stone became the fourth player to score an overtime goal in a regular-season NHL game contested outside of North America, joining Tyler Kennedy (PIT), Ethan Moreau (CBJ) and Jack Johnson (LAK). Each instance occurred at the Ericsson Globe.

* Three Stockholm natives hit the score sheet: Senators defenseman Fredrik Claesson scored his first goal of the season while teammate Johnny Oduya (0-1—1) and Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (0-1—1) also registered a point on home soil.

* Senators forward Mike Hoffman (0-1—1) extended his point streak to seven games (1-8—9) while defenseman Erik Karlsson (0-2—2) pushed his point streak to six contests (1-8—9).

LUONGO, HOLTBY JOIN ELITE COMPANY WITH WINS
* Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo made 24 saves to earn his 455th career win and pass Curtis Joseph(454) for sole possession of fourth place on the NHL’s all-time list among goaltenders. Luongo, who is Florida's all-time leader in wins (196) and appearances (501), trails only Martin Brodeur (1,266) and Patrick Roy (1,029) on the League's all-time list for games played by a goaltender.

* Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby made 27 saves to improve to 200-76-31 in 319 career appearances (2.32 GAA, .922 SV%, 32 SO). Elias notes that Holtby, who trails only Olie Kolzig (301) in career victories by aCapitals goaltender, required the second-fewest appearances in NHL history to earn his 200th career regular-season win.

MAPLE LEAFS RALLY TO WIN HOCKEY HALL OF FAME GAME
James van Riemsdyk (2-0—2) tied the game with 1:00 remaining in regulation and Patrick Marleau scored in overtime to power the Maple Leafs to victory in the annual Hockey Hall of Fame Game. Marleau recorded his 101st career game-winning goal (10th in overtime) to move into a tie with Jarome Iginla for seventh on the NHL’s all-time list; Brendan Shanahan ranks sixth with 109 such goals, while Jaromir Jagr sits atop the all-time list with 135.

* Members of the class of 2017 received their rings in advance of Monday’s Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Celebration, with six of seven inductees participating in a ceremonial puck drop at Air Canada Centre. From left to right: Jeremy Jacobs, Paul Kariya, Teemu Selanne, Dave Andreychuk, Mark Recchi and Danielle Goyette; fellow inductee Clare Drake was unable to attend.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS EARN SIXTH STRAIGHT HOME WIN, MOVE TO 10-5-1 OVERALL
The Golden Knights scored at least five goals in a game for the fifth time this season to extend their home win streak to six contests and improve to 10-5-1 (21 points) overall. Vegas became the third team in NHL history to hit the 10-win mark within the first 16 games of its inaugural season.

* Elias notes that the Golden Knights became the second team in the NHL’s modern era (since 1943-44) to win six consecutive home games at any point in their inaugural season (also VAN from Nov. 20 – Dec. 15, 1970). Only one NHL team achieved the feat before 1943-44 – the Toronto Arenas from Dec. 21, 1917 – Feb. 11, 1918 (8-0-0).

* The Golden Knights rank third in the NHL with 57 goals for this season (excluding shootouts), trailing only the Lightning (68) and Maple Leafs (67).
