SUNDAY’S RESULT
Home Team in Caps
Vancouver 4, DETROIT 1

BAERTSCHI SCORES TWICE, CANUCKS WIN SECOND STRAIGHT
Sven Baertschi
(2-0—2) scored his first two goals of the season and the Canucks tallied three unanswered second period goals to earn their second straight win and improve to 4-3-1 (9 points) this season.

* Baertschi – who scored a career-high 18 goals in 2016-17 – has recorded five points (2-3—5) in his last five games.

* Derek Dorsett tallied the game-winning marker for his team-leading fifth goal of the season – all of which have come in the past five contests (5-1—6).

RED WINGS’ GREEN CONTINUES STRONG START
Red Wings defenseman Mike Green (0-1—1) recorded his 10th assist of the season (1-10—11 in 9 GP). Per Elias, it marks just the third time in Red Wings franchise history a defenseman has recorded 10 or more assists through the team’s first nine games of a season. Nicklas Lidstrom accomplished the feat twice previously in 1997-98 (4-10—14 in 9 GP) and 2010-11 (1-10—11 in 9 GP).

* Green – who leads all Red Wings skaters in assists and points – is tied for most points by a defenseman this season with Alex Pietrangelo of the Blues (3-8—11 in 9 GP) and Shayne Gostisbehere of the Flyers (1-10—11 in 8 GP).

KINGS LOOK TO REMAIN UNBEATEN IN REGULATION
The Kings (6-0-1, 13 points) look to remain the only team without a regulation loss in 2017-18 when they visit the Maple Leafs (6-2-0, 12 points) at Air Canada Centre. Los Angeles has started a season with a point streak of at least seven games for the second time in franchise history (also 1995-96: 4-0-3) and their 13 points are a franchise record through seven contests.
