WILD KEEP FRANCHISE-RECORD ROAD POINT STREAK ALIVE
The Wild built a 3-0 lead and Darcy Kuemper made 41 saves as Minnesota extended its franchise-record road point streak to 14 games (12-0-2), including five straight wins.

* The Western Conference-leading Wild (33-11-5, 71 points) eclipsed 70 points in their 49th game of the season, nine games faster than any other season in franchise history. They sit one point back of the Capitals (33-11-6, 72 points) for the top spot in the NHL, with one game in hand.

* Other franchise records achieved by the Wild this season include overall win streak (12-0-0; Dec. 4-29, 2016) and overall point streak (12-0-1; Dec. 2-29, 2016), as well as an eight-game home win streak that matched a franchise best (8-0-0, Nov. 23 – Dec. 29, 2016).

* Mikael Granlund (2-10—12) and Jason Pominville (2-6—8) each notched an assist to extend their point streaks to 10 and six games, respectively.

HAT TRICKS POWER CANADIENS, HURRICANES
Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty (3-0—3) and Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho (3-1—4) registered hat tricks to lead their clubs to victory:

* Pacioretty registered his sixth career hat trick (and second this season) to help the Atlantic Division-leading Canadiens pick up their 30th win of the season (30-14-7, 67 points). Pacioretty shares second in the NHL with 24 goals this season, four back of Pittsburgh’s SidneyCrosby (28) for the League lead.

* Aho scored his first career hat trick (49 GP) to help the Hurricanes snap a five-game slide (0-5-0). At 19 years, 189 days, Aho became the youngest player in Hurricanes/Whalers history to record a hat trick and the first rookie to do so with the club since Erik Cole on Dec. 21, 2001 vs. ATL (3-0—3). Aho ranks third among NHL rookies with 15 goals this season, behind Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine who have 23 apiece.

FILLING THE NET
A total of 98 goals were scored in the 14 games contested Tuesday, an average of 7.0 goals per game. That includes eight games that featured at least seven combined goals. Highlights from the three highest-scoring games:

* The Stars scored five times in the first period en route to victory to improve to 2-0-2 on their six-game homestand. Elias notes that the Stars scored five goals in the opening period for the first time since relocating to Dallas in 1993-94. The last such instance for the franchise occurred on Dec. 21, 1988, when the North Stars scored five times in the first period of an 8-6 L at LAK.

* Seth Jones (2-0—2) registered his first career multi-goal game as the Blue Jackets built a 6-0 lead before holding off a Rangers rally to earn a win at Madison Square Garden and move within two points of first place in the NHL (33-12-4, 70 points). Alexander Wennberg (1-2—3) recorded three points for the second time in his past four outings to establish career highs for goals, assists and points in a season (9-34—43 in 49 GP).

* The Senators built a 4-2 lead, but the Panthers scored four straight goals – including the go-ahead marker by Jonathan Marchessault – to improve to 2-0-1 in their past three games. Marchessault extended his point streak to five games (2-3—5) and ranks second on the club with 15-17—32 this season (44 GP) after collecting 8-11—19 in his first 49 career games.
