LEAGUE-LEADING CAPITALS RALLY TO EXTEND POINT STREAK
Washington overcame a 3-1 deficit and Jay Beagle scored 19 seconds into overtime as the League-leading Capitals (31-9-6, 68 points) extended their point streak to 13 games (11-0-2).


* Philipp Grubauer turned aside 32 shots – including an incredible blocker save on Stars forward Tyler Seguin in the third period – to extend his personal point streak to nine games (7-0-2). Grubauer improved to 9-1-2 overall (2.05 GAA, .925 SV%, 2 SO).

* Nicklas Backstrom (4-12—16 in 9 GP), Alex Ovechkin (4-8—12 in 7 GP) and Andre Burakovsky (4-3—7 in 5 GP) each extended point streaks.

* Washington earned their first win vs. DAL since Oct. 25, 2008 (6-5 OT W), snapping a nine-game slide (0-8-1).

QUICK TRIO OF GOALS POWER WILD OVER DUCKS
The Wild scored three goals in a span of 1:59 late in the third period to rally over the Ducks and improve to 7-1-1 in January.

* At 30-10-5 (65 points), the Wild moved two points ahead of the idle Blackhawks (29-14-5, 63 points) to reclaim sole possession of first place in the Western Conference.

* Erik Haula (2-0—2) and Jason Zucker (2-0—2) combined for four goals, while Ryan Suter (1-1—2) scored the game-winner while celebrating his 32nd birthday.

OILERS ROUT FLAMES TO SWEEP BATTLE OF ALBERTA
Jordan Eberle (2-2—4) matched a career high with four points as the Oilers extended their point streak to six games (5-0-1) and swept their four-game season series vs. CGY.

* Elias notes that the Oilers went undefeated in a season series vs. CGY (min. 4 GP) for the third time in franchise history (also 1983-84: 7-0-1 and 2000-01: 4-0-1).

* Connor McDavid scored the game-winning goal and leads the NHL with 16-40—56 this season (49 GP).

* Laurent Brossoit, a sixth-round selection (164th overall) by the Flames in the 2011 NHL Draft, made 38 saves to register the first victory of his NHL career (7 GP).

MULTI-GOAL OUTINGS GUIDE OTHER CLUBS TO VICTORY
In addition to the Wild and Oilers, several other teams secured victories via multi-goal performances:

* Scott Hartnell (2-0—2) scored a first period tally and the go-ahead goal with 9:35 remaining in regulation as the Blue Jackets improved to 18-5-1 (37 points) at Nationwide Arena this season. Columbus’ 18 wins through 24 home games this season match their 41-game total from 2015-16 (18-17-6, 42 points). At 31-10-4 (66 points), the Blue Jackets remained two points back of the League-leading Capitals.

* Bryan Little (2-0—2) scored two power-play goals to register his first multi-goal game of the season and lead the Jets to victory. Elias notes that Ondrej Pavelec (34 saves) established a Jets/Thrashers record for most saves in a period with 25 in the middle frame.

* Anders Lee (2-0—2) scored his second goal of the contest of at 9:31 of the third period to break a 2-2 tie and lead the Islanders to their fourth win in their last five games. John Tavares (1-1—2) has scored eight goals in his last five outings (8-1—9).

* Miles Wood (2-0—2) registered the first multi-goal game of his NHL career to help the Devils extend their road point streak to seven games (6-0-1), including four consecutive wins.

LOOSE PUCKS
David Schlemko scored at 1:18 of overtime to guide the Sharks to their fourth consecutive win . . . Radim Vrbata (1-3—4), Martin Hanzal (1-2—3) and Tobias Rieder (1-2—3) combined for 3-7—10 to help the Coyotes snap a four-game slide (0-4-0) . . . Coyotes forward Christian Fischer scored the game-winning goal in his NHL debut . . . Blue Jackets forward Markus Hannikainen also scored the first goal of his NHL career (10 GP) . . . Flames forward Sean Monahan (1-0—1) extended his goal streak to a career-high five games (5-2—7) . . . Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk (0-1—1) extended his career-high point streak to 10 games (3-11—14) . . . Mikael Granlund (0-7—7 in 6 GP), Taylor Hall (2-4—6 in 6 GP) and Erik Karlsson (0-6—6 in 5 GP) also extended point streaks . . . Stars forward Tyler Seguin (0-1—1) became the first player from the 2010 NHL Draft class to reach the 400-point milestone (179-221—400) . . . Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman (800), Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen (700) and Oilers forward Matt Hendricks (500) each skated in milestones games . . . The Blue Jackets hosted their Military Appreciation Night at Nationwide Arena and the Maple Leafs hosted their Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Night at Air Canada Centre . . . Former Ducks forward Teemu Selanne made an appearance at the NHL Centennial Fan Arena in Anaheim.

HOMETOWN HOCKEY TOUR STOPS IN VERNON, B.C.
The Blackhawks host the Canucks on Rogers Hometown Hockey, which will showcase the city of Vernon, B.C. Canucks captain Henrik Sedin (233-767—1,000), who became the first player in franchise history to reach the 1,000-point milestone on Friday, will face fellow member of the 1,000-point club Marian Hossa (516-602—1,118). Throughout the 2016-17 season, Sunday games will be broadcast from a different community rink in various towns across Canada. Included in each telecast will be local NHL player profiles, grassroots stories and local entertainment features.
