* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, St. Louis is the oldest player in NHL history (38 years, 7 months, 1 day) to score three goals in any period. He is the second-oldest player ever to score four goals in an NHL game, behind Johnny Bucyk, who was 38 years, 238 days old when he scored four times for the Bruins versus the Islanders on Jan. 5, 1974.

* St. Louis is the only player in franchise history to score three goals in a period, also accomplishing the feat Jan. 15, 2004 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

* St. Louis’ four-goal performance ties a franchise record for goals in a game set by Chris Kontos on Oct. 17, 1992 in the club’s first ever game. He has 8-3--11 on his current seven-game point streak.

DUCKS BACK TO THEIR WINNING WAYS
Ryan Getzlaf opened the scoring and assisted on what turned out to be the game winning goal as the Anaheim Ducks beat the St Louis Blues 3-2 in a battle of two of the hottest teams in the league. Getzlaf’s goal was his 25th of the season, matching a career-high. He now has points in his past seven games (5-6—11).

* The Ducks have won 19 of their past 21 (19-2-0) and nine of their past 10 (9-1-0) overall. Anaheim leads the NHL in road points (37) and wins (17).

* Rookie Frederik Andersen made 34 saves to improve to 12-2-0 with a 1.99 GAA and a .929 save percentage this season.

FLYERS FLY PAST THE ISLANDERS
Claude Giroux assisted on both the game tying and game winning goals as the Philadelphia Flyers overcame a 4-3 third period deficit to defeat the New York Islanders 6-4. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, this is the ninth time this season the Flyers have won a game after trailing at some point in the third period. That ties the franchise record set during the 1996-97 season.

*Andrej Meszaros continued his streaky ways with two first period goals. It was the third two-goal game of his career, and all three have come against the Islanders. Meszaros is (3-6—9) in his last six games.

* The Flyers are 15-2-2 against the Islanders in their last 19 meetings dating back to the start of the 2010-11 season, and are 17-1-2 against the Islanders at the Wells Fargo Center in their last 20 home contests going back to the start of the 2007-08 season

HOMETOWN HERO STRIKES ON HOCKEY DAY MINNESOTA
Nate Prosser, a native of Elk River, Minnesota, scored at 2:42 of overtime to give the Wild a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars on the eighth annual Hockey Day Minnesota. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Prosser is the third Minnesota native to score a regular-season overtime goal for the Wild, after Mark Parrish (Dec. 9, 2006 vs. Chicago) and Zach Parise (Feb. 26, 2013 vs. Calgary). This was just his second goal this season, Prosser’s first goal was the game winner in the Wild’s previous game on Thursday.

MAPLE LEAFS BEAT RIVALS ON HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA
James Van Riemsdyk scored with 5:33 to go in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and send the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens in the 722nd regular season meeting between these two rivals. Van Riemsdyk has four goals, including two game winners in his past five games. Toronto has now won four in a row.

* Phil Kessel scored a goal and added an assist to earn his 300th point as a Maple Leaf. He is 3-7—10 on a five game point streak.

UNLIKELY HERO LEADS AVALANCHE
Defenseman Nick Holden scored two goals and added an assist as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Nashville Predators 5-4. The 26-year old Holden entered the game with two goals in 27 career games and had never recorded more than a single point in any game.

* Semyon Varlamov made 27 saves to improve to 11-0-5 in his last 17 games (16 starts). His run of 16 consecutive decisions without a regulation loss ties Peter Budaj for the longest streak in franchise history.

* Nathan MacKinnon had two assists and now leads all rookies with 31 points.

*Prior to this victory, the Avalanche had dropped their last seven games in Nashville (0-6-1). Colorado's last win here was Jan. 6, 2009.
