* Columbus forward Alexander Wennberg scored the game-winning goal with 54 seconds left in the third period to lead the Blue Jackets 3-2 over the Washington Capitals. The Blue Jackets won their fourth straight game, improving to 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. Sergei Bobrovsky (19 saves) improved to 7-1-0 in his last nine appearances and 10-4-1 overall (2.19 GAA, .931 SV%, 3 SO).

* Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward made 21 saves and Victor Rask (1-0—1) scored the game-winning goal for the second straight game to give Carolina their fourth straight win and fourth consecutive win at home. Carolina went three-for-three on the penalty kill and have now killed off 19 straight penalties to lead the League (91.3%).
