MAPLE LEAFS, SENATORS CONTINUE STRONG PLAY ON HOME ICE
The Maple Leafs (5-2-0 at home) and Senators (6-2-0 at home) each improved their impressive home records to start the season:

* Morgan Rielly (1-3—4) set career highs for assists and points in a game as the Maple Leafs scored four unanswered goals in the third period to rally past the Flyers in the Hockey Hall of Fame Game. Rielly became just the second Maple Leafs defenseman to post four points in a game since the 2010-11 season, joining teammate Jake Gardiner who achieved the feat on Dec. 21, 2015 at COL (0-4—4).

* Trailing by a goal, Zack Smith tied the game at 16:06 of the third period and Mark Stone score the go-ahead goal with 6.5 seconds left on the clock to propel the Senators past the Kings. Via Elias, Stone became just the fourth player in Senators history to score a go-ahead goal in the final 10 seconds of regulation.

UNLIKELY OVERTIME GOALS
The Capitals, Avalanche and Devils each earned overtime wins on Friday in unlikely fashion:

* The Blackhawks tied the game with 22.3 seconds left in the third period, but Marcus Johansson scored in overtime to help the Capitals improve to 6-1-0 in their past seven contests and halt Chicago’s win streak at seven games. The overtime goal was the first of Johansson’s NHL career (432 GP).

* Colorado surrendered a two-goal lead in the second period, but Avalanche forward Rene Bourque (2-0—2) was credited with his fourth career overtime goal when Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers directed the puck into his own net. Bourque has collected 4-1—5 this season (11 GP) to surpass his goal output from 2015-16 (3-5—8 in 49 GP w/ CBJ).

* Captain Andy Greene scored a penalty shot goal in overtime to lift the Devils to their third straight win in the first half of a back-to-back, home-and-home set with the Sabres. Via Elias, Greene became the second defenseman in Devils history to score a penalty shot goal, joining Scott Niedermayer who achieved the feat exactly 18 years earlier on Nov. 11, 1998 vs. MTL.

MUST-SEE MOMENTS

* Avalanche goaltender Calvin Pickardmade a young fan’s day by sharing a puck.

* Maple Leafs forward Tyler Bozak shared a special moment with his one-year-old son Kanonduring warmup.

* Capitals teammates T.J. Oshie and Karl Alznertook extra time to thank veterans at United Center in Chicago.

In the other contests, Auston Matthews and the Maple Leafs (6-5-3, 15 points) visit Sidney Crosby and the Penguins (9-3-2, 20 points) for the first time, while the Rangers (10-4-0, 20 points) head to Calgary to take on the Flames (5-9-1, 11 points).

FIRST ROUND REMATCH IN SUNRISE
The Islanders (5-7-2, 12 points) face the Panthers (6-7-1, 13 points) for the first time since ousting them in overtime of Game 6 in the opening round of the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs. In that contest, John Tavares – who leads New York with 5-6—11 this season – scored the tying goal in the final minute of regulation before notching the series-clinching goal midway through the second overtime period to help the Islanders win a playoff series for the first time in 23 years.

HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER
