CANUCKS STORM BACK TO STUN HURRICANES
The Canucks scored four unanswered goals – including the tying goal by Ben Hutton (1-0—1) with 5:50 remaining in regulation and an overtime tally by Brandon Sutter (1-1—2) – to rally from a three-goal deficit and win for the first time since Dec. 8, 2011 (4-3 SO W at MTL).


* One night after scoring the shootout winner in Vancouver’s season-opener, Sutter again provided the deciding goal, this time against his former team – he compiled 53-54—107 in 286 games with Carolina from 2008-12.

HIGHLIGHT-REEL WINNER LIFTS ISLES IN OT
The Ducks erased a 2-0 deficit in the third period, but Josh Bailey danced through all three defenders for a highlight-reel goal in overtime to help the Islanders win their home opener.

* Bailey, who has spent his entire career with New York, scored his fourth career overtime goal – tied for third in franchise history behind JohnTavares (8) and Kyle Okposo (6).

Elias notes that 10 of 32 total games this season (31.3%) have seen a team overcome a multi-goal deficit to earn at least one point. The trailing team eventually won eight of those 10 contests.

* In 2015-16, teams overcame a multi-goal deficit to earn at least a point in 150 of 1,230 total games (12.2%), including 93 victories.

O’REILLY SETS CAREER HIGH IN MILESTONE GAME
Playing in his 500th career game, Sabres forward Ryan O’Reilly (2-2—4) set a career high with four points – including the game-winning goal from center ice – to help Buffalo start its four-game road trip with a victory.

* O’Reilly has collected 23-41—64, including 14 multi-point games, since joining the Sabres for the 2015-16 season (73 GP).

LOOSE PUCKS
Forward KyleOkposo, who signed a seven-year contract with Buffalo on July 1, posted 1-1—2 in his team debut . . . Forward Milan Lucic, who signed a seven-year contract with the Oilers on July 1, scored his first goal with the club. It was the 400th point of his NHL career . . . Offseason acquisition Teuvo Teravainen scored his first goal with Carolina . . . Former Islanders Bryan Trottier, Bobby Nystrom, Billy Smith and Eric Cairnsdropped the ceremonial puck before the team’s home opener . . . Blackhawks teammates Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrooktook part in the festivities at Wrigley Field during Game 2 of the NLCS in Chicago . . . Professional wrestler Daniel Bryan attended his first-ever hockey game and led the Islanders’ signature “YES! YES! YES!” chant, a phrase he made popular in the WWE.

RED WINGS SET FOR FINAL HOME OPENER AT THE JOE
The Red Wings, who will relocate to Little Caesars Arena for the 2017-18 season, host the Senators in the final home opener at the storied Joe Louis Arena. Detroit has clinched the Stanley Cup in the building on two occasions (1996-97 and 2001-02) and owns an all-time regular-season record of 811-415-189 at The Joe since playing their first game there on Dec. 27, 1979 (3-2 L vs. STL). The Red Wings contested their firsthome opener at The Joe on Oct. 16, 1980 against the defending Stanley Cup champion Islanders, who were powered to victory that night by a three-point performance by eventual 1980-81 goals leader MikeBossy.
