McCANN, CANUCKS END CANADIENS’ PERFECT START TO THE SEASON
Jared McCann (2-0—2) registered his first career multi-goal performance to help the Canucks snap a four-game skid (0-2-2) and end the Canadiens’ perfect start to the season (9-1-0).

* The Canadiens, who set an NHL record with nine straight wins in regulation to begin the season, fell one victory shy of equaling the League mark for consecutive wins (in any fashion) to open a campaign. Both the 1993-94 Maple Leafs and 2006-07 Sabres started their seasons with 10-0-0 records.

* McCann, the 24th overall selection in the 2014 NHL Draft, has 4-0—4 through his first seven outings. Per Elias, the 19-year-old Stratford, Ont., native became the fifth teenager in Canucks history to notch a multi-goal game – and the first to do so since Feb. 28, 1990. The others: Trevor Linden (7x), Cam Neely (6x), Brent Ashton (1x) and Jim Sandlak(1x).

* Derek Dorsett (1-1—2) and Brandon Prust (0-2—2) also posted multiple points for the Canucks, who improved to 12-4-0 in their last 16 home games against the Canadiens dating to March 27, 1999 (MTL: 4-10-2).

STARS OVERCOME 3-0 DEFICIT TO STUN DUCKS
Down 3-0 after the first period, the Stars scored four unanswered goals – including the tiebreaker by Antoine Roussel with 1:28 remaining in regulation – to improve to 6-1-0 in their last seven contests.

* Via Elias, the Stars overcame a three-goal deficit to win in regulation for the first time since Jan. 8, 2006, when they notched six unanswered goals in a 6-3 victory at DET.

* Jamie Benn collected three assists for his second three-point performance of the season (also Oct. 17 at FLA: 2-1—3). The reigning Art Ross Trophy winner has registered at least one point in eight of his nine outings this season, pacing the NHL with 8-7—15.

KINGS SOAR PAST JETS FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN
The Kings scored four unanswered goals, including three in the final 4:41 of regulation, to pick up their sixth consecutive victory following a 0-3-0 start to the season.

* Tyler Toffoli (1-1—2) and Jeff Carter (0-2—2) both recorded multiple points, whileMilan Lucic tallied the game-winning goal. Toffoli (6-1—7) and Lucic (2-4—6) have combined for 8-5—13 during the team’s winning streak, including four of the six decisive goals (two apiece).

* Jonathan Quick (24 SV) has started five of the six games during the club’s winning streak, stopping 137 of 142 shots on goal in that span (0.99 GAA, .965 SV%, 1 SO).

WILD CONTINUE HOME DOMINANCE OF OILERS
The Oilers notched three consecutive goals to overcome a 2-0 deficit, but Ryan Suterand Charlie Coyle scored 43 seconds apart in the third period to help the Wild improve to 4-0-0 this season at Xcel Energy Center.

* Devan Dubnyk made 22 saves for the Wild, who improved to 21-3-1 in their past 25home games against the Oilers dating to Feb. 25, 2007 (EDM: 4-8-13). Dubnyk, the 14th overall selection by Edmonton in the 2004 NHL Draft, also improved to 6-1-0 in seven career appearances against his former club (1.28 GAA, .949 SV%, 1 SO).

* Suter (2-0—2) registered his third career multi-goal game and first since Jan. 4, 2014 vs. WSH (3-0—3).

KREJCI, BRUINS EXTEND STREAKS IN WIN OVER COYOTES
David Krejci scored twice, including the game-winning goal, and Tuukka Rask stopped all 24 shots he faced to help the Bruins stretch their point streak to five contests (4-0-1) following a 0-3-0 start to the season.

* Krejci extended his season-opening point streak to eight games (7-7—14); his 14 points rank second in the NHL, behind Stars captain Jamie Benn (8-7—15). Krejci’s seven goals through eight games already equal his output from last season (7-24—31 in 47 GP).

* Rask recorded his 27th career shutout, all with the Bruins, to tie Eddie Johnston for fourth place in franchise history, behind Tiny Thompson (74), Frank Brimsek (35) andTim Thomas (31).

AROUND THE RINKS
* Jake Allen turned aside all 26 shots he faced to earn his sixth career shutout and outduel close friend and former teammate Ben Bishop (22 SV). Allen, who led all rookies with 22 wins and four shutouts last season, helped the Blues improve to 6-1-0 in their last seven meetings with the Lightning dating to Nov. 12, 2011 (TBL: 1-5-1).

* Ron Hainsey scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period to lift the Hurricanes to their second win in as many visits to Joe Louis Arena this season (also Oct. 16: 5-3 W). The club has won three of its past four trips to Detroit after going 0-8-2 in its first 10regular-season visits following relocation to Carolina in 1997-98.

* Brayden Schenn potted the tying goal twice in the third period, but Zemgus Girgensons scored at 2:29 of overtime – following a desperation save by Chad Johnson – to lift the Sabres to their first road win of the season. Girgensons recorded his first career overtime goal and his third career game-winner.

* Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves, highlighted by a spinning paddle stop in the third period, to lead the Blue Jackets to their second straight win following a 0-8-0 start to the season. Boone Jenner and Cam Atkinson scored 35 seconds apart to snap a scoreless tie; Jenner paces the club with six goals in 10 outings.

* Vincent Trocheck (2-1—3) and Brian Campbell (1-2—3) both recorded three points to lead the Panthers to their second consecutive victory following a trio of losses (0-2-1). Trocheck notched his second three-point game this season (also Oct. 10 vs. PHI: 1-3—4), while Campbell posted his first such performance since Feb. 26, 2013 vs. PIT (1-2—3).

3-ON-3 OVERTIME: DID YOU KNOW?
Eighteen of the 26 games that have required overtime this season have been decided in the extra period (69.2%).

Last season, under the 4-on-4 format, the percentage of overtime periods with goals was 44.4% (136 of 306).

MILESTONES & BENCHMARKS
* Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo (31 SV) recorded his 404th victory to surpassGrant Fuhr and move into sole possession of ninth place on the NHL’s all-time wins list among goaltenders. CAPITALS, PENGUINS MEET ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY
The Capitals face the Penguins at Verizon Center on NBCSN’s Wednesday Night Rivalry. This marks the first of five meetings in 2015-16 between these Metropolitan Division foes – as well as the 10th season in the rivalry between Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and Penguins captain Sidney Crosby. Since both entered the NHL in 2005-06, no player has more goals (480) or points (904) than Ovechkin, while Crosby’s average of 1.35 points per game is tops among all skaters. Pittsburgh owns a 22-13-4 record in the 39 regular-season matchups between these clubs since Ovechkin and Crosby entered the League 10 years ago (WSH: 17-17-5) and also defeated Washington in a seven-game series in the 2009 Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Capitals, however, won three of their four meetings last season, including two via shutouts by Braden Holtby.
